He then returned to Lethbridge and worked for a local dental lab for six years where he was involved with all aspects of dental prosthetics including complete dentures, partial dentures, orthodontic appliances, and implant cases.

Upon completing and graduating from the Denturist Technology Program, Rick interned under a certified Denturist for two years and then completed and passed the Denturist practical exam and became a Certified Denturist to practice in Alberta. AvaDent™ Digital Dentures offer revolutionary, high-tech advantages to denture patients.
Advanced Technique Denture Centre Ltd. is pleased to announce the incorporation of AvaDent™ Digital Dentures into its practice. As one of only a select number of dental practices to offer this breakthrough, digital, CAD / CAM technology, Advance Technique Denture Centre Ltd. can now create an AvaDent Digital Denture with a precise, computer fit, in just two appointments.
Traditional dentures can take as many as five or more appointments. The AvaDent process starts with one convenient appointment to capture the patient’s exact features. The information is then sent to AvaDent’s Scottsdale, AZ facility where your dentures are digitally designed and precision milled from a compressed, pre-shrunk disk of acrylic. A second appointment for fitting and you are done!
AvaDents are more bacteria resistant than traditional fabricated dentures to help eliminate sore spots and “denture breath”. And because AvaDents are digital, each one has a permanent digital record so if they are ever lost or broken they can be replaced quickly and easily without the patient even coming into the practice.
With AvaDent our patients can regain their youthful smile with the natural look and feel they may have thought they had lost forever. “We tell our patients that with AvaDent you can have a smile that is virtually you!”
When is an immediate denture used? To avoid the situation of being without teeth, we use the immediate denture technique. This involves taking impressions of your mouth while your natural teeth are still present. We are then able to fabricate a denture in the likeness of your natural teeth, or make any necessary modifications you may wish. When your natural teeth are extracted, your immediate denture is then inserted. In this technique, you have avoided having to go without any teeth while you go through the healing process.
Advanced Technique Denture Centre individually crafts each immediate denture, using only the best materials and techniques to ensure an accurate fit, optimal function, and natural aesthetics.
Things you should know about immediate dentures. Since we are unable to try-in the denture prior to extracting your teeth, certain esthetic compromises may be necessary. This doesn’t present any significant problems, and the results are normally quite good. It is important to follow the postoperative instructions that we give to you and the instructions of your Oral Surgeon very carefully. As healing occurs, the bone and gum tissue recede so denture adjustments may be required. Follow-up appointments at our office are necessary. To maintain the best fit and comfort, a temporary liner or tissue conditioner will be placed in the denture. During the next few months, bone and gum tissue will probably continue to shrink to some degree; however, the rate of change decreases with time. This is a natural occurrence, which is to be expected. After the healing process is complete, your denture(s) will be relined to ensure the most comfortable fit possible.
A removable partial denture is a dental appliance that replaces single or multiple missing natural teeth. It can be attached to teeth with clasps or it can be attached to teeth with crowns and precision attachments. A partial denture that fills in the space created by missing teeth is essential for many reasons. It can help you to chew food properly, improve speech, give your lips and cheeks support, and prevent your remaining teeth from changing position by drifting into the surrounding spaces. Teeth that are out of position can damage the tissues in the mouth. It is vital to restore the mouth to its original state. Those individuals who currently wear a full upper denture and are missing some lower natural teeth would have great success using a lower partial denture. Upper dentures that are not supported properly by lower teeth can cause many problems. For these individuals, this may result in a poor fitting upper denture causing an increase in bone loss, tissue growth and “sore spots”. A correctly fitted denture results when the fitting surfaces work together in perfect balance.
In most cases, we can restore an existing broken or cracked denture to its original state. Repairs may be required when breakage or chipping occurs, when one or more teeth need to be added to an existing denture (due to tooth extraction), or because of wear and tear. Most repairs can easily be done in one day. If your denture requires a repair, it may be indicative of underlying problems, including age of the denture, worn teeth, or poor fit. We recommend that you call to make an appointment for all repairs. This will ensure we can complete your repair in the shortest time possible.
