Process
- Immediate dentures are constructed, before (or after) the natural teeth are extracted. (4-5 appointments)
- Upon surgical extraction, the dentist will place the denture immediately in the mouth. It is crucial to wear them at all times as the denture will act as a cast to promote healing of the sockets by reducing swelling, preventing food particles from entering open sockets and cushioning the healing tissues
- The day after extractions, the Denturist will see you to clean your denture and make adjustments
- After 2 weeks, Tissue Conditioners (TC) are needed for fit and to help promote healing and accomodate for bone loss after extraction
- After 3 months, a second Tissue Conditioners (TC) is needed as tissuses and bone continue to heal
- After 6 months
Option 1
A reline will be needed for Immediate Surgical Dentures, once the tissue and bone have fully healed. A reline is a day long process consisting of an early morning impression appointment, leaving the dentures to be processed, following a late afternoon appointment to insert the relined dentures
Option 2
Fabrication of your permanent dentures will begin. (3-4 appointments) Reline will not be required to complete the denture
